VP of Finance

About us

Mavenoid is the world’s first hardware support platform. We’ve built a virtual assistant and other tools that help customers set up, use, and troubleshoot everything from dishwashers and printers to robotic lawnmowers and electric scooters. With iconic brands like HP and Jabra as clients and $40 million in funding from top VC firms like Creandum and Point Nine Capital, we’re reinventing technical support for physical products. Having recently raised our Series B, we’re entering an exciting phase of growth but are still small enough for each new person to have a big impact on the company as a whole. As an international virtual-first company, we have office optional culture with Mavens located all over North America and Europe.

The role

We’re looking for a VP of Finance (or CFO) who will focus on creating value rather than protecting it, be a true business partner, and act like a founder with a finance hat. You’ll report to the CEO and partner closely with the rest of the leadership team on all kinds of business decisions. You’re a great strategic thinker but also excited to build the machine from scratch.
  • Create the financial plan. Build and iterate the financial model, monthly actuals vs budget, and a rolling forecast.
  • Run accounting. Manage a controller, work with outside accountants, and automate what should be automated.
  • Improve cash management. Find free lunches in places like payment terms, accounts receivables, and FX.
  • Own metrics. Make sure there’s a great system in place for tracking the most important metrics.
  • Manage investor relations. Prepare board decks, update investors, and come up with creative ways to build trust. Own the data room and partner with the CEO during the next fundraising process.
  • Be a sounding board. Act like a true business partner for all kinds of business decisions, like assessing partnership opportunities and figuring out what customer segments are most profitable.
  • Give leverage to the CEO. Take on things that give the CEO time back to run the business, and help operationalize the strategy and financial plan.
  • Drive revenue. Take on projects that you think will accelerate recurring revenue, such as pricing, and ones that make it easier for our customers to buy from us.
  • Manage Finance, Operations, and Legal. Recruit an epic team, and take ownership of things without an owner.
  • You’ve done it before, rising to become CFO, VP of Finance, or similar at a venture-backed SaaS startup
  • You’re strong at financial planning and analysis
  • You focus on creating value rather than protecting value
  • You have deep knowledge of SaaS, ideally Enterprise SaaS
  • You possess the qualities we seek in every executive: a track record of recruiting remarkable people, an ownership mindset; raw intellectual horsepower coupled with an ability to get a lot done every day; strategic thinking; strong communication skills; and collegiality.
  • Bonus: You’ve operated across multiple countries, ideally across US and Europe
  • Bonus: You have a technical, engineering, or scientific background
